A love of dark, moody hues and a love of bright colors don't have to be mutually exclusive. As these pictures prove, dark wall colors are the perfect way to make bold, bright shades really pop.

Black and orange: not just for Halloween anymore. From Brittany & Brittany's Bright Wicker Park Apartment.

Against a charcoal wall, the orange pieces in this room from Decorology almost glow.

Green and black is another color combo we can't get enough of. Spotted on Desire to Inspire.

These jewel tones seem especially rich in a dark interior from Domino.

I love how your eye is immediately drawn to the bright pink textiles in this bathroom from Made by Girl (and I love the beautiful floor tile, too).

I love velvet because it always has a special glow. That's especially true for these brilliantly-hued pieces cast against a dark wall in an interior from Houzz.

Red accents against black in a bathroom from Schoolhouse Electric.

This look works for a little bit of color — or a lot, as in this richly contrasting space spotted on Desire to Inspire.
